About us

iCEU Central is dedicated to providing convenient, enriching, affordable, and efficiently processed continuing education opportunities for professional sign language interpreters. We offer RID CEUs and accredited clock hours through our dedicated RID CMP Sponsor, Ginevra Deianni.

Ginevra Deianni has been a professional sign language interpreter since 1996 and an RID CMP Sponsor since 2002. She is the original creator of culturally focused novels, books, video, and film-based learning projects designed specifically for interpreters—an approach that has since become widely replicated now across the field.

Her career began working with Deaf Hmong immigrants in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area and later expanded to include work with Deaf members of Somali and Nigerian communities in Seattle. Through this work—and in close collaboration with Deaf interpreters serving immigrant communities—Ginevra developed a deep understanding of the intersectionality of the Deaf immigrant experience. These experiences underscored how essential it is for interpreters to understand cultural values, beliefs, histories, and customs in order to serve as effective professionals and true allies.

In 2005, she launched an online cultural book study for interpreters, followed by a year-long series of monthly cultural films. By 2008, these projects became the foundation of iCEU Central through an interpreting agency she co-founded. As demand for these programs grew, Ginevra made iCEU Central her sole professional focus and formally launched this website in 2016.

While iCEU Central was initially the only provider offering these innovative learning formats, Ginevra welcomes the broader adoption of culturally centered CEU opportunities and is encouraged by the growing emphasis on multicultural competence within the interpreting profession. Her ongoing goal remains unchanged: to keep CEUs engaging, accessible, meaningful, and affordable.

The mission of iCEU Central is to offer a diverse range of home-based, self-paced projects that allow interpreters to strengthen and diversify their annual continuing education portfolios in a practical and cost-effective way.

iCEU Central does not discriminate and is committed to fostering an inclusive, emotionally and professionally safe learning environment. Our programs are designed to support thoughtful exploration of sensitive topics while cultivating deep respect for the lived experiences of all participants.
